Our Story
Owners Dave Moran and Josh McPhee met when they worked together at an award winning restaurant in the northern beaches. With their years of industry knowledge and skills, the duo had a dream to open a shop together in the inner west. In 2015 The General opened its doors in Dulwich Hill and has been a community favourite ever since.
The General is dedicated to producing carefully thought out food and supplies. as well as high class coffee, headed up by Esther Moran- a member of The General team since 2015.
Dave and Josh took over the kitchen at Marrickville Golf Course at the end of 2023. At the club they are serving up pub classics you know and love.
You will find Dave and Josh in the kitchen most days prepping and planning menus for Dulwich hill. The General is a family and family-friend run business that boasts an undeniably welcoming and cheery space to dine in.
What We Do.
We love supplying Dulwich Hill with good food and good coffee. Our produce-driven menu is fresh, tasty and features locally sourced ingredients. We cater for a variety of tastes, types and moods with our all-day brekky, healthy salads, burgers, vegan dishes and kid friendly options.
